Telepsychiatry services may not be the appropriate method of treatment for everyone. This may be due to the acuity and severity of symptoms, the nature of the disorder, the need for specialized care, or the ability to utilize telehealth technology. If the treatment cannot be safely initiated or managed through distance technology (or if there is an aspect of care that requires physical examination), in-person appointments may be required for continuation of care or a recommendation/referral to the more comprehensive level of care will be provided. Safety, privacy, and appropriateness of setting remain of paramount importance.
