Sleep Problems

How is your sleep? Very important question because sleep is  good indicator of mental well being. Occasional insomnia is very normal, especially in places like New York City. So implementing sleep hygiene or taking a sleeping pill or a sleep aid from time to time is completely okay but if you find yourself unable to sleep night after night, after night, after night, after night. No matter if it's a problem falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up very early, there is probably an underlying problem that's causing you sleep difficulties.

 

If you rely on sleep aids on a long run



, you're just going to get used to them, and then without them, it's going to be even more difficult to fall asleep. At the same time, you're not addressing the underlying reasons. So chronic insomnia, is a reason for Psych Eval because we need to figure out what's wrong and to treat the cause rather than the symptom.
